List of Pay TV companies in Nigeria.



   Pay TV companies are companies who provide digital satellite television to its customers with the basis of subscription. Satellite television provider have their decoder which is encrypted and customers can only have access to their  channels by paying monthly subscription to the company. In this article, I want to list out pay TV providers in Nigeria, Africa biggest pay TV market. Here are list of Pay TV companies in Nigeria:
1. DSTV : This company is the biggest pay TV company in Africa. It is run by Multi Choice. What make this company unique is the first classic sports channels ( Supersport 1 to 9 as well as supersport selects) on its package.
 2. GOTV : This is a subsidiary of DSTV also run by Multi Choice. This company is also pulling weight in Pay TV  in Africa market in Africa. What also make them unique is the Supersport channels on its package and is affordable compare to its sister company.
 3. CONSAT : This company is really pulling weight in pay TV market in Nigeria. This company has good channels on its package. This company try to compete with DSTV by providing free decoders and dish to the public. The company also allow non subscribers to have access to some of its channels such as TVC News, TVC News Nigeria, TVC Entertainment, Event TV, Aforevo Movies etc.
4. STAR TIMES : This company is very unique in Nigeria as it has the cheapest boutique in the history of pay TV in Nigeria. Subscribers don't need dish rather with just ordinary TV antenna.
5. STAR SAT : This company is a subsidiary of STARTIMES. This package requires dish to function. They are also unique for the introduction of the company Sports channel.
6. MYTV : This company is also unique as it decoder can be use to receive other free to air channels on any position your dish is facing.
7. MONTAGE CABLE TELEVISION : This company is also trying to be recognize in the Nigeria pay TV market.
8. TREND TV : This is another Pay TV company mostly know to the South-South and South Eastern Nigeria. The company also run a free to air channel ( Nollywood TV) on Intelsat 20 @ 20 degree East.
9. DAARSAT : This company is owned by Daar Communication , the operator of AIT and Raypower fm as well as Faji FM. The company has come to Nigeria market twice but later seize operations. It television and Radio arms are still very much in operations.
10. AFRICAN CABLE TELEVISION ( ACTV) : This company was actually competing with DSTV before the unexpected happened. The satellite ( Amos 5) that was hosting the company's channels suddenly disappeared from space in late 2015, forcing the company to migrate to the nearest satellite ( Eutelsat 16 @ 16 degree East). In the process of migrating, the company encountered some technical difficulty which prompted the company to suspend operations and promising to come back big. I wish them well.
        Century Sat 2 is a subsidiary of Century Sat 1. Century Sat 1 focuses exclusively on free to air channels while Century Sat 2 focus exclusively on Pay TV issues.
